Stock Count

Count stock by barcode, then reconcile against the books

Stocktaking software: load the catalogue and the book stock, scan barcodes to count what is actually there, then reconcile and export the variance report. Count with a camera, a USB handheld scanner or by typing. Every session is separate, mismatches are classified and priced, and the whole warehouse lives in one SQLite file you can copy to another machine.

Key Features

Count three ways: camera, USB handheld scanner, or typing — each with a confirmation beep
Every stocktake is its own session, over a shared catalogue
Automatic reconciliation into matched, short, over, uncounted and not-in-catalogue, with the variance priced
A scan log per code, so a number people doubt can be traced back
CSV import and export, with CSV-injection guarded on the way out
EAN/UPC checksum validation, which rejects a code misread by one digit
Tunable scan sensitivity: stable-frame count, duplicate cooldown, camera resolution

How it works

The Electron main process owns the SQLite file through better-sqlite3 and handles the file dialogs; the Vue renderer is the interface; they talk through a preload with context isolation on. Scanning prefers the BarcodeDetector built into Chromium and falls back to ZXing where it is missing. The whole warehouse is one SQLite file — copy it and the stock goes with you.
