Novel Engine

A deterministic engine that writes a whole novel unattended

An engine that writes long-form fiction end to end. The loop itself is deterministic and costs no model call: it routes on facts already written to disk, driving three autonomous workers — Architect, Writer, Editor — and waking an Arbiter only when a judgement call is genuinely needed. Checkpoints after every successful step, seven-axis review with quotes as evidence, and a TUI or headless run for a server.

Key Features

The main loop is deterministic and spends no model call at all
Architect, Writer and Editor run as autonomous workers; an Arbiter is woken only for a genuine judgement call
A checkpoint after every successful step, so a crash resumes at plan, draft, check or commit
Two-tier rolling plan: later arcs are expanded when the writing reaches them, against the summaries and character state already on record
Related-chapter recall across setup threads, character appearances, state changes and relationships — for novels past 500 chapters
Seven-axis review where every score must quote the text as evidence
Type a correction at any time; the system works out what it affects and rewrites those chapters
Runs as a TUI, or headless on a server, NAS or CI

How it works

The design splits on what can be enumerated. State transitions you can list are executed by deterministic code — an Engine reading a fact layer on the filesystem and routing from it. Judgements with clear boundaries are single LLM calls to an Arbiter, each one logged and replayable. Only open-ended writing is handed to an autonomous worker loop.
